Kasthuri Rangan Report Terrorized the Local Inhabitants. November 13 Notification must be withdrawn if Government believes in Democracy! No one can be against the protection of eco systems that is required for human habitations sustainability too.Gadgil and Kasthuri Rangan Reports are expected to instill confidence among the local habitations especially for the farmers and it should have advanced the Environmental Interventions but these reports created unwanted controversies and fear among the stakeholders spreading the message of loss of options for the livelihoods of farmers and local people. Now present Kerala Government and the Congress Party at the Centre has intervened in such a way that the value of the scientific content of the Kasthuri Rangan Report was reduced to “Notifications of Confusion and Suspicions “weakening the basis of Environmental Researches and Studies.The release of Office Memorandum is to put dust on the eyes of people and earn mileage for Politics. The Environmentalist who make hue and cry against the exploitation Of Natural Resources and Environmental degradations always prefers to the views of Protection of environment and they naturally extent positive support for Studies,Reports and Bills etc .But the fact is that all these Reports and Bills of the Governments helped only for increasing corruption and harmed the Environment. Now this Report has terrorized the people of Western Ghats areas and Farmers of the area was insulted. At this juncture the fight of the people of Western Ghats , Thamarsheri Roopatha,High Range Protection Samithi and all other outfits are Right and all right thinking people and Environmentalists should join them. It has become a practice by Government to go forward with its decisions sighting some positive points and neglect the peoples agitations and demands unilaterally like the Koodangulam Nuclear Project.This precedent must end and there is a need to value democracy, ensure people participation and decisions must be taken through knowledge transfer to people and consequently ensuring their participation . It is good if the Government value the citizens rights,they must close once for all the Kasthuri Rangan Reports ,withdraw the orders issued for the 123 villages and go for Fresh Research & Study for the Western Ecosystem Protection and Development with Stakeholder Participation .Sky will not fall by doing this and we knew well what has happened to many reports and bills of the Government and trying to politicalise or reap political benefit in the name of the this Report which can not do anything good for the Eco system. This Report can not do any good for the Ecosystem and the people except satisfying ego of Government and hence this Notification on Kasthuri Rangan Report should be withdrawn with immediate effect.
