Katheryn paddles after overnight chemo- Praise the Lord There is something about being out in God’s magnificent creation that restores our souls. Lush trees, quiet sounds of nature, gorgeous skies mixed with sounds of laughter and running water all combine to make one glorious experience. Such was a day spent together as family on the Hiwassee River, TN this past weekend. Katheryn beautifully sailed through her overnight chemo treatment in the hospital for 2 days to come home to a great week of eating, recovery, and then 3 overnight 12-hour fluid infusions. We had her port de-accessed on Friday around noon and then we drove up to spend a fun weekend together in God’s natural world in Tennessee. Our hearts rejoiced greatly to see Katheryn paddling down the river. Both Ben and I were enjoying the refreshment of its cool waters while seeing Katheryn breathing in the fresh air, touching the cool waters, and laughing as she went. So much this little one has gone through, yet so far she has come! Praise the Lord! All I can do is sing praises this morning for God’s goodness and for His life that we have today-after all we do not know if tomorrow will ever even arrive. I love what the Psalmists write about songs and am refreshed by the words today: “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever”…”to future generations I will proclaim Your faithfulness”…”I will sing in praise of Your name forever”…”Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders”…”I will sing to the Lord all my life”…”Sing praise to His name, extol Him who rides on the clouds”…”Oh, how good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him!” We don’t know where the “bends of the river” on this journey will take us…but today we have life, so we are choosing to embrace it and to roll with whatever waves we rush over.
