Kathina, Buddhist festival 2013 of wat koh jareom santi dhamma กฐินสามัคคีวัดเกาะเจริญสันติธรรมประจำปี ๒๕๕๖ Kathina is a Buddhist festival which comes at the end of Vassa, the three-month rainy season retreat for Theravada Buddhists.[1] The season during which a monastery may hold a Kathina festival is one month long, beginning after the full moon of the eleventh month in the Lunar calendar (usually October). It is a time of giving, for the laity to express gratitude to monks.[2][3] Lay Buddhists bring donations to temples, especially new robes for the monks. “ทอดกฐิน” อริยประเพณีที่สืบทอดมา กว่า 2,500 ปี นับตั้งแต่ครั้งที่พระพุทธองค์ยังคงมีพระชนม์ชีพอยู่จวบจนถึงปัจจุบัน ถือเป็นประเพณีที่พุทธศาสนิกชนทั้งหลายทุกยุคทุกสมัยมีความศรัทธาเลื่อมใส ว่าเป็น “ยอดของมหากุศล” จะเป็นเหตุนำให้ผู้ได้มีส่วนในการทอดกฐินนั้น ได้มหานิสงส์อันยิ่งใหญ่สุดประมาณ ด้วยเหตุนี้ การทำบุญทอดกฐินจึงเป็นงานบุญที่อยู่ในใจ และอยู่ในเส้นทางสัญจรของชีวิตในหนึ่งปีที่จะพลาดไม่ได้
