Kathua, January 4: There was a strong resentment amongst the villagers of Govindsar as they were depriving of water facility from last seven days and the concerning department was not taking any initiative to restore the supply. Leading the protesters Ramesh Kumar lamenting the departmental officials, said that seven days back the motor of their tube-well became non-functioning. Despite repeated requests and pleas, the department employees came and removed the motor for repairing. Since, then no one return to tube well with the repaired motor and people are suffering for water. Alleging the anti-public attitude of the PHE department officials, he further said that despite repeated pleas, they do not bother to mitigate the grievances of the public and as a result, they are on road. Another protesters Rani Devi and Nirmala Gupta said that in lack of water facility either we use to spend money from our pockets to purchase water from private tankers.“The people of the village are not so sound and we are not in the condition of buying expensive water again and again,” both the women miffed. They further said that in lack of facility they are bound to fetch water from Railway Station. Nevertheless, the Railway Police do not allow them repeatedly to fetch water due to security reasons. Raj Kumar alleging the attitude of concerned department for not giving an ear to their problem said that Government boasts of providing basic facilities to the public. The fact is that the people are facing a number of hardships in the shortage of basic facilities.“Nevertheless, the fact is that department is not serious as far the damaged motors concerns”, he irked. The habitants warn of severe consequences if the department fails to meet their demand within two-days. Mukesh Kumar, Pushpa Devi, Geeta Devi, Karmao Devi, Raj Devi and many others were among the protesters.
