Kathy Spalding, known around Southwest Florida for her incredible sculptures, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Here at the Conservancy, we are privileged to have two of Spalding’s pieces – a gopher tortoise and a bald eagle. The detail on both pieces is simply stunning and pictures hardly do them justice. Spalding is also an Eagle Award recipient. The Eagle Award is the highest honor awarded by the Conservancy of Southwest Florida and recognizes an individual’s efforts to protect the natural environment and quality of life in Southwest Florida. As an organization, we are honored that a small piece this amazing artists legacy will live on here at the Nature Center.
