Katie Boyce, a 6’1 Senior from Havana High School, has declared her intent to continue her athletic career at Lincoln Christian University in both volleyball and basketball. In high school, Katie was a three-sport athlete, receiving All-Conference recognition in volleyball, basketball, and track. She earned Varsity letters in each of her sports all four years and has led as captain in each. Katie led her volleyball team in kills and blocks throughout her junior and senior year as well as digs in her senior season. Her career kills (560) and blocks (271) helped her team achieve winning seasons all four years with a school record of 25-7 her junior year. Katie was chosen for multiple All-Tournament teams including the Alexis United’s top “go-getter” award. Her defense is as strong as her offense as she has been in the top three for the Lady Ducks in digs and serves as well. As a center on the basketball team, Katie also contributed to winning seasons for the Lady Ducks. She led the team in blocked shots as well as rebounds with 259 as a Senior while averaging 9.5 ppg and shooting 70% from the free throw line. During her senior season, Boyce made All-Tournament teams in the Macomb Tournament, Lady Tiger Classic, and Camp Point Shootout. She was recently honored as a Westtown Ford All Star in Jacksonville and as a Canton Kiwanis All Star. Katie qualified for IHSA State Track Meet last year in the Triple Jump for track and has placed in the top 5 at the Illinois Top Times track meet this spring. She is Havana High School’s nominee for the IHSA 2014 All-State Academic Team and 2014 Scholar Athlete. Katie says she is “looking forward to playing two of her favorite sports as a Red Lion.” She loves to quote Colossians 3:23 “In whatever you do, work at it with all you heart as working for the Lord, not for man.” In her academics, Katie has also managed a 4.0 GPA and received honors as an Illinois State Scholar, Maroon Scholar, and National Honor Society President. She will major in business administration and minor in intercultural studies at Lincoln Christian University with plans to get her doctorate in Physical Therapy after graduating.
