Katie O’Bryan had sung publicly before but the youth competitions, high school and church choirs, weddings and funerals were one thing. Singing the national anthem in front of thousands of rodeo fans Wednesday afternoon at the 118th Cheyenne Frontier Days was something else. In fact, it was O’Bryan’s first public rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” O’Bryan is an accounting technician and human relations assistant for the Wyoming Business Council. A friend recorded an audio version of her performing the national anthem and sent it to Frontier Days officials, who reserved her performance for “Cheyenne Day.” O’Bryan was born and raised in a small town south of Houston, Texas. She has been singing since age 3. O’Bryan moved to Wyoming, where she met her husband, in 1996. They have two children. “I absolutely love living in Wyoming and participating in Frontier Days, as it brings back all of the wonderful memories I have of going to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo when I was younger,” O’Bryan said. #cfdrodeo #thinkwyo #wyoming
