Kawawa/Kinondoni road junction for a temporal closure A main contractor of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, Strabag International GmbH has announced a temporary closure of Kawawa/Kinondoni junction from tomorrow 5th. Announcing the decision yesterday in Dar es Salaam, the company’s Information Officer, Mr. Yahya Mkumba said the section of the road will be closed from 5th to 6th this month. He said that the road will be closed to give way for the construction of the BRT project which is ongoing at the area. “That part of the road will be closed for the purpose of carrying out the ongoing BRT project,” he explained. He advised traffic using kinondoni road toward Morocco and Magomeni to use Togo road through Karago as an alternative. Those coming from Morocco or Kawawa roads toward Kinondoni cemetery have been advised to use Mtama road. “We are sorry for any inconvenience that will arise,” he said. On-going works of the DART project envisions reducing traffic jams and congestion at Dar es Salaam City. The project includes construction of 20.9 kilometre special trunk road from Kimara terminal to Kivukoni area, Msimbazi road from Fire to Kariakoo-Gerezani area and a part of Kawawa Road from Magomeni to Morocco junction. source: Dar Rapid Transit
