Kaycie Tretta-Roberts asks My son is 4 and is on the spectrum - TopicsExpress

Kaycie Tretta-Roberts asks My son is 4 and is on the spectrum and has struggles with sensory processing issues since he was 6 weeks old. Foods have always been an issue with him, shocking I know. However recently I noticed that at dinner he had started pouring his milk/water onto his plate. At first I was frustrated because I thought he was acting out. But when I took the food away and told him that wasnt ok he cried, and not an angry Im mad at you or tantrum. He was upset and sad. He told me he liked it that way when I asked him. So the following night I gave him his food and his drink and stood in the corner and watched where he would not see me. He did it again and I realized that he dipped his food into whatever he had in his cup, whether that meant dipping into the cup or pouring some on his plate. Has anyone else experienced this? If so is there a way I can help him without him dumping his milk on his food, because I know he wont be able to do that every where and he wont eat if its not soggy or wet. Tonight I soaked his food in a little milk before serving it to Him and didnt tell him and he ate every bite. Help please with any tips and tricks!!!! Desperate momma over here!!
