Kayli had an informative visit at the ENT (ear nose throat) drs office today. We learned that her recent trach noise is likely related to decreased tone in her trachea while she was sick (she has mild tracheamalacia that is worse when ill). The dr thinks it will completely rectify once she is better and off the antibiotics. If not, we will have to start ordering special order trachs that are longer (to help the area that is floppy/collapses). The dr will look at Kaylis large tonsils during the next jaw distraction surgery to see if her small jaw has grown enough to fit the tonsillectomy tools in her mouth, and if so she will take them out. She is skeptical that she will be able to get in Kaylis small mouth/jaw, but we shall see. We also learned that Kaylis ears were completely filled with an infection still, even though she has been on an oral (Gtube) antibiotic for a week! The dr took a culture, cleaned out her ears with a vacuum (which Kayli cried about because it was so loud), and prescribed a stronger antibiotic for her ears. We gave her Tylenol, and she has had a much better afternoon. :D She was a stinker at therapy today. lol She kept pulling her arm back when the therapists wanted her to stretch it. She even pulled her strength from her right arm and her legs to keep her left arm from raising! lol Several times, she turned her head to look at Mommy as if saying please tell them Im more willful than they are! lol We got a lot of smiles from her today! :D While bearing weight on her arms, she would give us a stink eye, then when we talked about her giving the stink eye, she kept smirking at us! lol Stinker, I tell you! lol
