Kayli saw an orthopedic today because her left leg turns inwards, - TopicsExpress

Kayli saw an orthopedic today because her left leg turns inwards, and she prefers not to straighten it. We were told by another orthopedic that Kaylis in-turned leg was due to her hip dysplacia/dislocated hip. Today we found out otherwise, that her leg turns in because she has a joint subluxation/dislocation at the knee. We found great relief in the news that Kaylis hips are in the same dislocated position because this means she doesnt need hip replacement surgery, and her hips arent what is affecting her decrease in range of motion! Kayli has been cleared to move her hips in any position! It is not what causes her pain in difficult positions! The bad news, is that her leg keeps popping out of place and she will need bracing to keep her leg in place. She was fitted for two braces today. One for wear in water (during aquatic therapy), and one for land use. While we do not know why/how this happened, we can say we noticed the change after a home care nursing incident the end of last year. At that time, it was suspected that Kayli had a femur fracture, but there is no sign of a previous fracture in the xray taken today. Makes us wonder if her knee was dislocated back then, and it was missed. At this point, we do not know how long Kayli will need to be in the braces, or if her knee can be corrected without surgery. We are grateful for the answers we received today, and look forward to helping Kayli with pain (in certain positions), and gain more range of motion with bracing!
