Kebba Dibba named new GRTS boss gambiaradio January 8, 2015 Veteran broadcaster and Cardiff University trained journalist, Kebba Dibba, has been appointed director general of the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) with effect from Tuesday, December 6th, 2014, the Daily Observer can authoritatively report. Dibba, 49, whose career spanned well over two decades, replaced Lamin Manga, who was appointed in 2013. Until this elevation, the Sintet-born journalist was the director of Television Programmes. “Yes I have been appointed; it is a challenge an opportunity. Media is something that I have been in all my life. I want to thank the authorities for the trust and confidence reposed on me and the opportunity to serve my country at this level, I also want to thank The Gambian people for their support because media is all about your audience and viewers,” Dibba told the Daily Observer in an interview. To his colleagues, he said: “I also want to thank my colleagues and I want to encourage that we work together as one and realise that the bigger picture is The Gambia and nothing should supersede that. I will do my best to provide the leadership and direction that will help us to be where we want. As a media organisation, the development of this country is our core responsibility and strengthening that will be a priority in the coming years”. Born in Sintet Village, Foni Jarrol, West Coast Region (WCR), Kebba Dibba’s career began in 1992 when he joined the Film Production Unit of the then Department of Information and Broadcasting. He has been working with the national broadcaster since it was established as the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS). Dibba obtained a Higher Diploma in Journalism at the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 1998. In 2007, he also obtained a Master’s Degree in International Journalism at the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University, United Kingdom. He also served as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Observer Newspaper between 2000/01. Culled from the Observer
