Keep Pickens Beautiful has presented Jasper Elementary School with a Recycling Award for May 2014. Several months ago KPB placed 22 blue paper recycling cans for classroom use and 6 Hexagon receptacles for plastics and aluminum collection at the school. Jennie Hutto Smith, School Counselor and Guidance and Principal Dr. Carlton Wilson wanted to reinstate and expand the recycling from years past. The entire student body and teachers have joined in and with the help of the fifth grade class, and have been collecting an average of nine 33 gallons bags of recycle each week. The school is doing single stream recycling with Waste Management. Congratulations to you all, keep up the good work. If you would like to learn more about recycling at your home or business, contact the KPB office at 706-253-3600 Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 9:00 to 2:00 and learn how you can become part of the solution to the problem of reducing solid waste in our county.
