Keep whales safe from ships. Take action for whales The North Atlantic right whale is a critically endangered species that is in dire need of protection. IFAW is working tirelessly to ensure that the hard-won protections the U.S. government has put in place remain intact. Last year the White House renewed a crucial protection (called the “Ship Strike Rule”) for the right whale. But a minority of shipping interests are seeking exemption from this regulation. If they get their way, more whales will be put at risk for injury and death, especially vulnerable mothers and their calves. Tell NOAA to stand strong in the protection of the right whale, by maintaining vessel speed restrictions at all ports.
