Keeping Your Freedom - Abiding Above by Chris Hodges Until Jesus comes to take us home, there will still be the 3 enemies of the Christian: the world, the flesh, and the devil. We will still struggle with temptations and trials, but we must not let these things cause us to think that our freedom in Christ is based on these ups and downs. Paul said in Galatians 5:1 – “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Never forget that your new life and your freedom are in the Lord Jesus Christ. They depend upon His presence and His power in you, not on how good you try to be. The Christian life is not keeping a set of rules but is “Christ in you the hope of glory.” My friend, you have found in Christ a wonderful new life, eternal life with the glorious freedom of the children of God. Treasure it above all things; you will enjoy it more and more as the years go by and throughout the ages to come. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” And then, one of my favorite verses that sums up the reason for our freedom in Christ, we are crucified with Him. Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Your freedom is eternally yours my friend, you cannot lose it but you can lose the day-by- day experience of it if you choose to follow God at a guilty distance. Stay close and clean.
