To nobodys surprise suburban and/or property wealthy schools topped the list. What the article failed to disclose was Eco. Disadvantaged %, English Limted Learners %, and Special Education % for each school. Here are the rankings by school with added data that was omitted from the article: 1- Alamo Heights SAT 1,644; EcoD 15%;ELL .5%; SpEd 6% 2- Reagan SAT 1,576;Eco D 9%; ELL .5%; SpEd 5% 3- Churchill SAT 1,567; Eco D 26%; ELL 1%;SpEd 8% 4- Johnson SAT 1,518; Eco D 13%; ELL 1%;SpEd 5% 5- Clark SAT 1,515; Eco D 35%; ELL 2%; SpEd 9% I compared the articles Top SAT schools to SAISDs comprehensive high schools. SAISD schools have considerably higher percentage of economically disadvantaged, English Limited Learners and Special Education populations. For college admission: the minimum combined SAT score for UT Austin is 1,050. Sam Houston 1,109 SAT; Eco D 95%; ELL 11%; SpEd 22% Lanier 1,185 SAT; Eco D 97%; ELL 16%; SpEd 18% Edison 1,195 SAT; Eco D 92%; ELL 11%; SpEd 13% Highlands 1,204 SAT; Eco D 86%; ELL 8%; SpEd 16% Jefferson SAT 1,216; Eco D 83%; ELL 11%; SpEd 13% Brackenridge SAT 1,226; Eco D 88%; ELL 10%; SpEd 12% Burbank SAT 1,287; Eco D 89%; ELL 10%; SpEd 12% (Note: YWLA and Travis not compared in 2012) Bottom line: scores and data are always relative. Improvement should always be expected across the board, however, the writter failed to paint a full picture.
