Kelly didnt like him. In the end maybe, its just that simple. The NFL keeps all these security tabs, contract provisions, drug tests, etc. in their pocket so they can call up a reason any time they feel like it to get rid of a guy. They constantly leak little tidbits here and there to tear a guy down. When Buddy cut Cris Carter Buddy said All he did was catch touchdowns. When he was inducted into the hall of fame Cris thanked Buddy. Nobody else knew about Cris problems.
