Kelownas municipal cemetery is considering human composting or green burials as an alternative to traditional embalming. The Urban Death Projects Katrina Spade, which is promoting the idea says, At that point [after human remains have composted] we would encourage families to come back and take some of that compost — maybe they want to grow a memorial garden in their backyard or plant a lemon tree.
