Kendrick Lamar has been nominated in six categories for the 2013 Soul Train Awards. Miguel, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Chris Brown and Tamar Braxton all landed five nominations. The 2013 Soul Train Awards will be hosted by actor-comedian Anthony Anderson. It is scheduled to take place at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada November 8 and it is slated to air at 9 PM EST/PST December 1 on CENTRIC and BET. "We are thrilled to bring the Soul Train Awards back to Las Vegas with a star-studded lineup that honors and celebrates icons and break-through artists alike,” Paxton Baker, General Manager and Executive Vice President, CENTRIC said in a press release. “We rolled the dice and hit the jackpot with Anthony as host and are excited to see what magical moments he will bring to the Orleans Arena during this year’s Soul Train Awards.” Kendrick Lamar was nominated in Best New Artist, Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration and Song of the Year categories. The Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year category features Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice” collaboration with Drake, as well as Wale’s “Bad,” which also features singer Tiara Thomas. Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne’s “High School” also scored a nod, as did Jay Z’s “Holy Grail,” which features Justin Timberlake. The category is rounded out by J. Cole and Miguel’s “Power Trip” and Drake’s “Started From the Bottom.” Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city is one of the two Rap albums nominated as Album of the Year. The other is Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. Rappers appear on three of the six songs nominated for Song of the Year. “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke f. Pharrell and T.I. earned a nomination, as did “Poetic Justice” by Kendrick Lamar and Drake. “Suit & Tie” by Justin Timberlake featuring Jay Z is the other.
