Kendrick Recruitment is looking for a Lodge Manager for a 5* Lodge in the Greater Kruger, Lowveld area. We are looking for a candidate who can combine their skills and experience together with a great personality and man management skills to take this lodge forward. Your key role as the Lodge Manager is to manage the overall running of the lodge and by doing so create a second to none guest experience, while monitoring and improve the service vision and creative concept of the lodge. A great team morale is key to any lodges success and it is imperative that the lodge manager possesses these key people skills for both staff and guests alike. A keen eye for detail is key to manage the interiors of this lodge and ensuring everything is kept up to the 5* standards expected by international guests. A passion for dealing with guests and giving them personal attention is key to the lodge manager role, you will need to be hands on and be able to communicate well with the guests giving them that ‘at home’ feeling while staying with you. An in-depth understanding of departments in the lodge is key as well as being able to understand budgets/figures for the lodges running and ensure that targets are being met by the establishment. Staff training and in-house development is something which is also key to the lodges running, by growing staff within the business it will keep staff turn-over lower and happy staff – (which always equals happy guests). We are looking for someone with previous experience in 5* lodges as well as managing a lodge of this calibre. International experience (Botswana, Tanzania, Mozambique etc) will also be fondly looked upon. You will need to be happy with working in a remote location for 6 weeks at a time. An exceptional knowledge of F&B is required for this role, as well as a dedicated passion to the industry as a whole. A fantastic personality is also key to the lodge manager to ensure staff and guests alike are kept happy and positive, with staff kept motivated to achieve their best on a daily basis. The Lodge Manager must also be able to have a good balance with the staff in working along side them when required to create the team morale but also have a sense of when to take charge and make decisions for the team. Fluent english is a must along with excellent computer skills, a second language (preferably european) would be advantageous.
