Kenmore South Professional Learning Community Thursday mornings before school many of our staff are engaged in professional learning on the explicit teaching model where we are refining and reflecting on effective teaching pedagogy. Thank you to Ms Cottrell who has shared her professional learnings from Taigai College on explicit teaching strategies. These sessions complement our continued focus on the Explicit Teaching Model with the gradual release of responsibility of learning from the teacher to the student. ‘The gradual release of responsibility instructional model ensures better student learning through structured teaching and assists teachers to increase precision in their teaching’. (Fisher and Frey, 2008)
