Kenny Jackett has confirmed Wolves remain keen to bring in fresh faces, as he seeks more “balance and quality” before the closure of the transfer window. The Head Coach has so far added only skipper Sam Ricketts to the squad as he assessed some of the club’s developing talent, but also remains committed to bringing in further new signings before September 2. Tongo Doumbia became the latest player to have departed the club when clinching a season-long loan to Valenciennes just prior to Wolves’ game at Morecambe on Tuesday night. “There have been a number of players who have left the club in the summer,” said Jackett. “With Tongo this was an option he wanted to look at and we wish him the very best back in France as he continues his career. “We do need to add to the squad as we work up towards the transfer window. “We need to bring balance and quality to the squad because we are getting in certain situations and just need the quality of the final ball or the final finish to be right. “Those things need to be improved on and sometimes you can’t find all that from inside the club. “We are looking to improve and we are looking to bring players in.” CEO Jez Moxey has also confirmed Wolves are “pushing on” with plans for new arrivals. “We are making offers as we speak to acquire the type of players who will fit our new structure,” he said. “You can never tell whether something is going to happen sooner or later but we are aware of the need to strengthen the squad – and we will do so.” Jackett meanwhile has already been handed a boost ahead of Saturday’s first home game of the season against Gillingham with Ricketts and Bjorn Sigurdarson both back in training after illness. Of the other absentees against Morecambe on Tuesday, only Dave Edwards is a definite ‘no’ for Saturday’s visit of the Gills. “Both Sigurdarson and Ricketts are over their illnesses and back and ok,” said Jackett. “We will see about players like Sako and Stearman. “At the moment I think Dave Edwards is the only one who definitely won’t make the weekend – the others all have a chance.”
