Kenya Power plans to distribute 3 million energy saving bulbs at the cost of 1 billion Kenya shillings. Good, save power, save energy. Bad strategy, pathetic thinking.shortsighted power economics. You dont use capital to distribute replaceable stuff. It is like buying one-time tissue paper to households because their use of hard material is clogging the sewage system. CEO Chumo and the board at Kenya Power should know this: -Those who afford to connect power to their homes can comfortably buy those bulbs. -Those who are already connected have the income to pay bills. What they lack is information.preach to them on energy saving. -1 billion shillings can connect 20,000 households at the unsubsidized cost of 50,000 shillings per connection. -Bulbs are replaceable. Will those who replace the bulbs have the mindset to do so?We need to change mindsets to ENERGY SAVERS. BUT, It is business.I am naive to think that the strategic thinkers at KP and Ministry of Energy are thinking of saving energy. What a quick way to make hundreds of millions of shillings. If I were to supply the three million bulbs at a profit of 50/= a bulb,I would make 150,000,000. I want to be in government. The next idea will be to supply .................................
