Kenya will have Masai Dancers representing them in the 2014 edition of the Carnival of Carnivals in the Seychelles starting the 25 April Seychelles has confirmed that a group of the colorful Masai dancers will be flying the Kenya flag as they show to the world the Kenya Masai Culture during the 2014 Carnival International de Victoria in the Seychelles starting from the 25th April. This unique carnival that has been able to bring together all the best and most popular carnivals from around the world is this year being jointly co-hosted by Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar, Mayotte and South Africa KwaZulu Natal. The Bomas Kenya Masai dancer represents in Kenya one of the most known and popular cultural groups of the country’s diversity and these colourful Masai Dancers will be parading the streets of Victoria in the Seychelles alongside the Notting Hill Carnival of the UK, the Carnival from Indonesia, the Brazil Carnival, the Carnival from Trinidad & Tobago, the Italy Carnival and the Carnival from Dusseldorf Germany. Over twenty other countries from the Community of Nations will also be joining the carnival parade with their very own Cultural Troupes to showcase their country and culture to the world through the large bank of International Press who continue to be in Seychelles to cover this carnival that they have themselves named the Carnival of Carnivals. The colourful Masai Dancers are familiar and known to the western world for their jumping dance and for this edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria, the Bomas Masai folklore dance will grace the Carnival of Carnivals with their presence by showcasing Kenya’s authentic and rich culture. Both the locals and visitors to Seychelles will be able to enjoy a true experience of the Masai’s cultural values and their history during the coming celebrations in Seychelles. The Kenyan Masai Group is set to arrive in Seychelles in time for the Carnival Press Conference schedule for the 24th April where they will be able to join the 26 odd International Delegations to tell the world that their respective countries are serious tourism destinations working to be more visible through their unique culture and by showcasing their people. The Bomas of Kenya Masai dancers will stage a number of performances during their short stay in Seychelles. Dressed in their traditional attire, they will be chanting and carrying spears in the Peoples Stadium for the Official Opening Ceremony of the Carnival on the 25th April. The proud Masai of Bomas folklore troupe will stage their jumping and bridal dances in the main carnival parade on the 26th April to help give a special feeling to the Carnaval International de Victoria. Often portrayed as brave warriors, the tall and athletic men armed with a spear would in the past raid for cattle and kill lions, and they consumed raw food, such as milk and blood. They are hoping to get the Press and everyone at the Carnaval International de Victoria to appreciate their authentic performances in they bid to get Kenya more visible in the world of tourism. The Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture and their Tourism Board has expressed their appreciation for the help received by Madame Daphnee Bonne to get the Kenyan Masai Group to Seychelles.
