Kenyan journalism is a mixture of raw journalism and public - TopicsExpress

Kenyan journalism is a mixture of raw journalism and public relations. The problems always arises when these so called political analysts step on the stage or even write articles in newspapers. It is often hard to tell whether they are actually expressing their intellectual view or are just planting propaganda views to unsuspecting readers. Kenyan journalism too has undergone through some kind of negative transformation where real debates on national issues have been swept under the carpet. You get some writers coming up with wild views on certain matters an no one cares to put the record straight or if he does, his criticism fails to see the light of the day. There is a view that is slowly being carefully planted around trying to celebrate Uhuru Kenyattas pan africanism credentials. The sad thing is that some journalist seems to be distorting the truth. We have all seen and clearly know that the only reason Kenyatta is leaning towards AU is to help him in his ICC cases, which in itself is not a bad thing. He has a right to do whatever it takes to save himself. The issue here is that when a self respecting journalist sees this as a sign that Uhuru is a pan-Africanist, choose to peddle such lies around, and no fellow journalist sees the sense to correct this, then the entire local journalism is going to the dogs
