Kera Kot Kapileshwar Shiva temple is one of the oldest Shiva temple monument and famous for its wonderful carvings. But very less has been done for the preservation and exploration. The “Shikhar” was destroyed in 1819 Earthquake and wonderfully carved Flag Holding stone is still there on the ground and many specimens are in the Well in the ground of Shiva temple. Many statues and specimens are taken to Museum of Kutch and kept there so we cannot see those at the temple site (roof Rass Mandal, Parvati statue and other carved statues). Though the temple was built without any adhesive material – recently few stones are fixed with cementing – particularly in front steps of the temple and some of carved unreadable write-ups are fixed with cement so doubt of preserving the originality. I have been picturing since last more than 30 years - 1983 photograph is also added to the folder.
