Kerala politics is a riddle, when the Christian priests are up in arms (literally, that is) to retain the Western Ghats for the ‘poor farmers’ there, for which, Kerala Congress- all factions- threaten pulling the rug from under the UDF government. The ‘Western Ghats ProtectionSociety” is engaged in live agitations. All have threatened posting their own candidates for the related Parliament constituencies. 1. There is no chance of a decision from GoI, undoing a comprehensive national policy for Kerala alone (6 states, from Gujarat to Kerala are relevant), and that too, in a couple of days, when election codes of conduct are on. 2. One or two of their members sitting in Parliament can do nothing. 3. There can be no illusions on floor crossing groups achieving greater involvement in the resultant CPM dominated LDF government( decision is still with the GoI)- this applies to the agitating clergy too.
