Kevin G Obrian:Anthony Johnson was the first legal slave owner in - TopicsExpress

Kevin G Obrian:Anthony Johnson was the first legal slave owner in America, back in the mid 17th century (thats the mid 1600s for those who went to public school or the school of hard knocks). Johnson was an indentured servant (a defined period of slavery to be worked off) who worked off the debt owed and built a lot of wealth. In fact, he became one of the wealthiest men in the Americas. He had a black indentured servant named John Casor. After a time Casor felt hed worked long enough for his debt and left Johnson for employment with a white man who hired him and paid him a fair wage. Johnson went to court, and the court ruled that he could hold (own) Casor for the rest of his life, thus creating the first legal slave in America decided as such by the civil court. Anthony Johnson was black. The very first civil court determined legal slave owner in the Americas was a black man from Angola, who became one of the wealthiest men in America. A black man started legal slavery in the Americas (the United States didnt exist for more than a hundred more years). BTW, he also owned four white indentured men. The first legal slave owner, a black man, owned four white men. Also, American ships never went to Africa for slaves. The European slave trade did. Black African tribes attacked each other regularly for conquest and sold captured slaves they didnt keep themselves to the Arab slavers, who then sold them to the Europeans and in the Arab slave markets, who brought them all over the world including America. Slaves werent made slaves because they were black. They became slaves after being conquered as many peoples have, black, white, brown, red, yellow... Englands King James hated the Irish race (I say Irish race because a race of people is defined as a people who evolved separately from others and developed their own language and customs. Race is NOT skin color, but is used incorrectly that way anyway). So, King James hated the Irish race, MY ancestors, and sent hundreds of thousands of them as slaves to work the plantation fields on the Caribbean islands. The Irish, like Johnson and Casor, were indentured servants when they first came to America. The Irish were discriminated against and considered less than human (a hold over from the English attitude). The Irish werent allowed to socialize with decent folk, or mingle with society. The Irish, instead of rioting and looting or finding their Sharptons, worked their asses off and didnt make excuses. They EARNED through hard work the integrated status they came to enjoy. Its people like Sharpton and Jackson who fill their pockets by causing hate and strife and prevent blacks from integration by telling them to segregate because the white man is against them. No, its charlatans like Sharpton and Jackson who are against them, because it makes them rich and gives them the ear of the first black president of the United States, and for no other reason than the color of their skin. They are the modern day Anthony Johnsons. (There are slaves and slave traders still in the world today. Most if not all in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Instead of whining and crying and looting about things that never happened to them, maybe the Ferguson protestors et al could join the rest of us and turn that energy into doing something constructive about slavery that still exists today.)
