Kevin Joel Kelly (The Poet) in conversation, If If I were a priest, I would be a minister of ecstasy. Everyday I would lead the flock through the garden of paradise and point out the birds and butterflies. I would note the sky and the stars, the raindrops and sunshine and of course, the moon. The lessons for the day would include names of flowers. Parishioners would be handed a mirror and instructed to gaze at the face of God. If I were a priest I would remind people to tune the song of their hearts with the tuning fork of their souls and find a chant worthy. The tenets would include touch life, touch each other and know the wonder of what you lay a hand on. Sorrow would not be left behind but embraced as joy waiting to unfold like a rose in its bud. If I were a priest people would wait no resurrection but embrace the rising in each morning as life intended for heaven today. Too many awake to a new day in hell and feel love left them behind. I would not wish to convert them, but welcome them in their despair. The parishioners would wrap the souls of these guests in warm stories, like babies nuzzled in blankets. And they would come to know the truth of their being. If I were a priest.
