Kevn Page at WMRS Radio is a man with 9-lives. It has been almost 20 years ago that Kevin was Security Director at Monon Corporation. On a beautiful Tuesday morning in May Kevin was helping move a dock for Monon Corporation. The throttle stuck on the boat and the front end came up and throw Kevin into the water. When Kevin resurfaced the boat was going around him. He grabbed and clung to a child-size life jacket which was floating nearby. In 75 foot deep water Kevin wished he had not worn his steel-toed boots. The boots weighed him down a bit. Kevin arms and legs were cramping up in the 58 degrees water, luckily he was a pretty strong swimmer, as he began to swim for his life. On the bank 300 yards away Monon police deputy Roger Young and security officer Mark Jasek, who practice diving at the quarry radioed for help and then swan out to help Kevin. It was 20 minutes for Kevin to be safe on dry land. The Monticello and Monon Fire Department were waiting on the banks to take Kevin to White County Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. It was a lucky day for Kevin Page, his family, and friends.
