Keys to Impact Mark 10: 41-45 Prior to the scripture, James and John had been arguing about who would be on the right and left hands of Jesus. 41. When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42. Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44. and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Leadership is a form of servant-hood. Jesus became a servant because he was God, not in spite of that fact. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Four key areas of impact that marked the life of Jesus and we should strive to have: 1. Have and offer accountability. If you commit to something, follow through. If you are a leader and others commit, then hold them accountable. 2. Have compassion. We need to understand that not everyone is like we are. When people leave our company, do they feel valued and loved? John 13:35 “…if you have love one for another…” 3. Have dependence on God. Zechariah 4:30 says, “…not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord” 4. Have a sense of peace about us. Prov. 14:30 “A heart at peace gives life to the body.” We all have our place of influence and we need to use the four keys of impact and work our ‘field’ as God directs.
