Keys to game #2- 1.) Salazar pitch with confidence. We need a good strong outing from Danny Salazar tonight. He has only one major league win for the year, and the only really strong outing he had was way back in April against the Giants. But after some time spent in triple A... reports are that he is returning to last years form (the good part of last year). Lets hope that is true. The big thing I am looking for improvement on is his ability to keep his pitch count undercontrol. It has been kryptonite to his pitching. He needs to get the count in his favor early on... limiting the amount of pitches he has to make to each batter. He also is known for his fastball. He likes to throw them and he likes to strike batters out. The problem is that when one of those prettu a little fastballs misses its mark the opposition takes advantage. .. often by way of the long ball. So he needs to maintain control. The twins came out with a game plan last night.. swing early and pull. It worked... so tonight we have to be smarter and make the adjustment. 2.) Get to the starting pitcher... because their bullpen is pretty darn good. We had oppertunities last night to win... we just did not capitalize. It is hard to win a game when you score three runs or less. You can blame it on changes in the line up. You can blame it on a few pitches that wet left out over the plate by House, or the ever changing strike zone. But when it comes right down to it... we did not get it done last night. We need clutch hits! We need two out RBIs! Salazar needs run support! Pino is looking for his second major league win for the Twins tonight. He has had his fair share of struggles... but as we saw last night... any pitcher can have a good night. So we need to make sure he doesnt. The twins have a pretty lights out bullpen.. so none of this late in the game heroics unless yoy can gaurentees a win! Lets score early. Lets score often! 3.) Stop the bleeding! Ok... so we lost game one to the Twins. Frustrating? Absolutely! That was a mind boggling game to watch unfold. But we need to leave last night in the past and stop the losing skid before it turns into a losing streak. Get hyped.... get angry that you lost last night..but take it out on the ball! We have to be able to win series... and in order to have the opportunity to win this series we have to win tonight. Lets stay above .500 and get back into the win column!
