Khadija Ismayil: Yesterday we have learnt that human rights activist Leyla Yunus was banned by Azerbaijani security to access the OSCE PA event which she was accredited for participation. OSCE PA confirmed that Azerbaijani governments security decided not to let her in. Today another incident happened with Ali Kerimli, chairman of the opposition Popular Front PArty. As Kerimli wrote in his FB page, he was invited to the meeting with group of OSCE PA delegates from European countries at the Fairmont Hotel, where OSCE PA events are taking place and delegates live. He entered the hotel, but the Assembly delegates were prevented from having the meeting with opposition party leader in the lobby of the hotel. After long argument with Azerbaijani security officials, shocked European parliamentarians left the hotel and continued the meeting in one of the city cafes. Two conclusions: 1. Azerbaijani government is eager to show how oppressive the regime in the country is. 2. This is what happens when the international events are hosted by oppressive regimes, and take place in the hotels, which are linked to presidents family (see offshoreleaks stories on Ilham aliyevs BVI companies)
