Kia ora e te whanau. We have an awesome group of first year - TopicsExpress

Kia ora e te whanau. We have an awesome group of first year maori students that have signed up to our inaugural TRT mentoring programme. They are keen as mustard to do well in their first year papers and give this year their best shot. If you have the time, your participation as a mentor would be much appreciated. Knowledge of the stage 1 papers is not expected or needed. Your role will be more as a sounding board and guide to the ins and outs of the University and first year study - who Cecil is - how Cecil works - what to do - what not to do etc (were all experts there). Depending on numbers, mentors may be assigned up to 4 students. Initial introductions will be made at an organised hui and then contact can be maintained through email, facebook or meeting up if your time allows. The key idea is just to to check in once a week or so, pre-exams etc to see how they are doing and keep them motivated. Making contact with these first year students will also be a good way of introducing them to TRT and strengthening our roopu. If you are keen please add your email address to the comments below and we will get in touch with time/date for introductions.
