Kia ora whanau, Ngarimu VC Scholarship now Open; The Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Scholarship Fund Board Challenge The Challenge is offered to Māori students in years 7 to 13 and is an opportunity to learn about the valuable contributions made by soldiers of the 28th (Māori) Battalion in World War II. Students may enter submissions in a number of different mediums including short film, musical composition and photographic essay, with individual and group entries permitted. Entries can link to English, history, arts and Te Reo Māori learning. The Challenge encourages Māori students to draw on whānau experience and local history. Winning entries receive cash prizes and schools may win prizes for participation. Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarship - tertiary level Scholarships are now available to Māori students undertaking tertiary study in 2015. Students are encouraged to apply for the prestigious scholarships, which commemorate the service of Second Lieutenant Te Moana Nui a Kiwa Ngārimu VC and the 28th (Maori) Battalion in World War II. The scholarships have a long history of recognising Māori who demonstrate adaptability, intelligence, perseverance and mana. Three undergraduate scholarships worth $10,000 per year are available as well as a Masters and Doctoral award valued at $15,000 and $25,000 respectively.
