Kia ora whānau, RE: MAORI PERFORMING ARTS COURSE (ECE) We are currently seeking expressions of interest for Kāwai Raupapa, an 18 week Māori Performing Arts paper run by Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. If there is enough interest, this course will begin in mid-August, with classes running from Te Aitarakihi Marae. This paper will be aimed at Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers, and parents of young children. You will be taught a variety of waiata (songs), rotarota (rhymes) and oriori (lullabyes) as well as some general age-appropriate kapa haka items that would be suitable for young children. Although this is a Māori performing arts paper, there will also be a strong focus on the correct pronunciation of Māori words, and basic commands that can be used in an every day context.
