Kiambu county Governor William Kabogo has launched a youth foundation. The Kabogo Foundation was launched at Paradise Lost on Saturday. The event was organised by about 100 youth from the Kiambu County Youth Development Initiative. The youth were drawn from the 12 sub-counties of Kiambu. Kabogo was with his deputy Gerald Githinji, TNA chair William Kuria Josiah, Kiambu Township ward representative James Njenga, Peter Munga (Ndeiya), Karungo wa Thangwa (Ngewa) and Mutonya Njenga(Sigona). “We have just launched Kabogo Foundation which will form the youth and women groups from within the county because they have to be empowered to start and boost projects to better their lives and create employment,” he said. “I want hustlers to be sonkos (rich men) by the end of my term. So I urge the youth and women to join hands, form and register groups of 20 people from each ward so we can be able to support them.” Kabogo criticised members of the county assembly for slashing Sh1.2 billion which he had initially allocated to the youth and women department. “They cut the youth and women money to Sh400 million but I refused to give them grants for houses and mortgages which could have seen then county denied funds by the national director of budget,” he said. Kabogo said he has denied people licences to build houses using share certificates to have pay taxes to the county government. "Those saying I am pressing hard on tax should know that we shall impose stronger conditions for them to let us collect revenue for better services,” he said.
