Kicking the goose… My open rate on my emails has dropped - TopicsExpress

Kicking the goose… My open rate on my emails has dropped right down recently, in fact it’s gone down in the last two month by 25%… BUT I’ve also had a huge increase in both sales and thank you emails. You see sales aren’t the dirty side of your business they are the most noble part, they are a direct reference to the number of people you help and the degree to which you help them… So the emails have changed to talk about emotion at bit more, now you can read that as soppy if you like although that’s not what I am intending. The fact is that our emotions govern all non-habitual behaviour and are responsible for creating a large portion of our existing habits… The lessons that has bought me here has been my search for the golden egg… Most people have a physical goal, a financial goal and a relationships ideal and we focus our time on a single minded approach to achieving those and looking for the silver bullet that will get them for us. Often we grow frustrated when part of life encroaches on our achievement of any one of those… -I’m at work now I’m cultivating finance -I’m at home now but my blackberry is on so its a bit of relationships and a bit of work… -Work is quiet I will do health NOW -Work is busy I will do that now and fix relationships and health later For each area of focus we are often in a different headspace… We are kicking the goose that lays the golden egg and we wonder why we aren’t sleeping, why we are stressed, why arguments happen with our nearest and dearest. Now this isn’t a wishy washy attempt to talk about work life balance or something intangible it’s just a composition of how we know humans work. Call it the domino effect, call it the evolutionary survival system if you like but it is fact that absolutely every aspect of our lives has an immeasurable impact on every other aspect of our lives… Like a game of Jenga The key to our success in all aspects of our lives is the nature of our daily habits, the processes we do on autopilot not the things we decide to do when we aren’t focusing on something more pressing… We are meant to move every day We are meant to give our time in service of others We are meant to build up those around us We are meant to eat the food that the earth provides us We are meant to sleep consistently What makes us human is our ability to see our emotions and then not act on what they tell us to do, they are seeking comfort and familiarity not the habits that will change your results. Your current reality, my current reality is a result of my habits and my beliefs. If I want a different result I have to change those. Look after your goose first and it will lay the golden egg, stop trying to kick out of him/her...
