Kidder Creek Camp Update....Week 8 High School Ranch Camp Girls & Elementary Timberline Classic Katy said is so well when she was heading to camp in May.... The smell of summer camp is..... Campfire smoke...camp meals that repeat and repeat ) forest woods soaked in water, baked in hot sunshine... with DIRT rubbed in! [SO grateful for our refreshing creek-fed POND for swimming each afternoon!] This week I drove twice to beautiful refreshing Shackleford Falls with the high school ranch girls....it is a lovely grotto in the hot mtns. The water is bone-chilling since it flows right out of the mtns, but the sun is hot, the roads are DUSTY and it feels so good! Campers are brave to slide down the 12 ft drop or jump off the even higher cliffs into a bottomless pool. I did NOT do either of those, but I did swim in the bone chilling pool....brrrr! Reminds me of the Puget Sound. When you are dusty, the meals are dusty, everything is dusty, but smiles are genuine and God is working to open hearts..its all good! Ken got to friend the oldest boys cabin 6th graders) at Timberline this week....the Raccoons became his "manly men" group with their counselor Nathan (Air Force ROTC :) Challenged them to make the most of their time at camp and do "hard things" to serve the Lord and strengthen themselves. Last night they invited him to sleep in their cabin :)! Next week we have the youngest campers...Day Campers, ages 5-8. Expecting about 50 of them Mon-Thur. Also, another High Adventure HS Group at Timberline and young campers at Ranch Camp, then our 2nd Mother-Daughter Horse Retreat on the weekend! Sick counselors are healing and we need strength to finish the last few weeks. Most of the staff are rushing off to college once camp ends on Aug 17th....pray we can all give out HIS resources in these final weeks! Thanks for praying for us!
