Kidnappers of Rivers PDP chieftain demand N30m ransom on March 10, 2014 / in News 9:03 am / Comments BY JIMITOTA ONOYUME PORT HARCOURT— KIDNAPPERS of Mr. Dickens Worlu have demanded N30 million naira ransom for his release. It would be recalled that Mr. Worlu, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was kidnapped about a week ago at his residence in Ojike Street, Diobu, Port Harcourt. The victim’s wife, Patricia, who spoke yesterday when the National Association of Seadogs, A.K.A. Pirates Confraternity paid her a sympathy visit, said the family had been praying for the safe and unconditional release of her husband. She said the family had not been the same since the sad incident. She also appealed to the kidnappers to have pity on the family and release the husband. She said: “We don’t have the money. Where will the money come from? We are begging that they release my husband unconditionally.” Professor Temi Akporhonor, who led other members of the SeaDogs on the visit, lamented the state of insecurity in the country, adding that the Rivers State government and the security agencies should take practical steps to secure the unconditional release of the hostage. Describing Mr. Worlu as a personal friend, Akporhonor said it was sad that some criminal elements were trying to reduce the nation to a jungle. He urged the wife of the hostage and other family members to be strong; assuring that the security agencies and government would work to secure release of the head of the family. - See more at: vanguardngr/2014/03/kidnappers-rivers-pdp-chieftain-demand-n30m-ransom/#sthash.4b2sQ1CI.dpuf
