Kids are very young and make mistakes, These mistakes are made over and over. When dealing with your kids and problem issues remember these simple rules. 1. Respect your kids. Lots of parents forget children deserve as much respect as anyone. Respect has no age limit. 2. Relate to you child. Understanding the situation is key to a good outcome. 3. Be interested in why. What I mean is ask plenty of questions about the situation at hand, kids love to talk about themselves and who better to talk to than a (single) parent or Mom and Dad. 4. Lastly decide on a resolution and explain it fully. We all know the old BECAUSE I SAID SO May work for some but it never works well for kiddos. Explain the situation to your child in detail and decide before hand if you need to be a friend or a parent. Good luck and remember to hug your kiddo when the conversation is over. A great big hug and an I love you and Im very proud of you go a very long way.
