Kids who were born in the 50s (me 1950) got spankings by their parents, grandparents and in school, we also drank from the garden hose, played cops & robbers, hide & seek, rode our bikes without a helmet, played in the dirt & mud, punched the bully in the face, never got a purebred dog or cat, grownups smoked in the same room as children, had guns in the house that we never even thought about touching, watched Saturday morning cartoons on a TV that was black & white with only 3 channels, had sleepovers, skinned our knees, played marbles in the mud, ate peanuts without an allergy, played outside until the streetlights came on, only got a dime from the tooth fairy, shoveled sidewalks to make some extra money, listened to Elvis, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Dion & The Belmonts, etc. etc. and we did all of this before iPods, iPhones, and computers and I think we turned out pretty good. And WE ALL had respect for our parents and consideration for one another. And now I say WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?
