Kilgore Police Launch Official Twitter Feed The Kilgore Police Department has launched an Official Twitter feed as another communication tool to help keep the public better informed and to get out information about critical events quickly. With the department’s success utilizing an official facebook page, Twitter looked to be the next logical step. Twitter could be described as a “viral communication network”. Information can literally be sent out instantaneously. Twitter will be used to give traffic alerts, road closures, crime alerts, safety alerts, missing or endangered persons and investigative updates to name just a few. Having a strong presence on social media sites has many benefits for both the police and the public. With real time information given to the many eyes and ears of Kilgore the public can assist the police department with solving crime. Bottom line everyone gains a safer community!
