Killarney is set for a full day of motorsport action on Saturday, with an official main circuit practice session from 09h.00 to 14h.00, followed by the first warm-up stock car practice from 14h.00 through until 20h.30. This is prior to the gala opening meeting of the Cape Hell Drivers 2013 / 2014 summer championship racing season on the Engen Oval, on September 21. Then while the seventh round of the Western Cape main circuit title chase is due to take place as scheduled a week later on September 7, there have been important changes to other events on the calendar later in the month. Because although the eighth round of the regional shootout that was due to take place on September 28 has been cancelled because of its proximity to the South African championship meeting on October 11, a unique, family type event has been planned in its place. This has resulted in the Heritage Day public holiday on Tuesday, September 24 being set aside for an all-new Tiger Wheel and Tyre Pure Passion Fun Day. The object of this one is to get different forms of motorsport competitors and spectators together. That’s the sum – as far as the parts are concerned , they are going to be anchored by the seventh round of the Western Province Motor Club’s drag racing championship. Other events will be held on the one mile “half main” circuit that has the advantage of allowing them to take place at the same time as the drag events on the adjacent, start / finish straight. The so-called “pure passion fun day” is even going to include events for scooters, as well as circuit racing cars (Midas Clubmans and Jive GTi Challenge), and streetcars. The stock cars and drifters will have the use of the Engen Oval. As it is a fun day, there will not be any official results or awards. However there are going to be a variety of special prizes, with competitors also able to benefit from a lower entry fee.
