Killing Cows is a crime if we see it from a religious angle (Read Hinduism) but what about the practical aspects? For a moment Lets forget anything related to religion, any stuff like Cow is worshiped by some, slaughtered by some etc due to their religious prescriptions. Lets for a moment think from the respective view point of each community as to how rational (or irrational) is killing of cows. Following descriptions are based on my interaction with members of respective communities and there is a small chance that some of the religious references might not be 100% correct For Hinduism In Mahabharat, Kans sends Demon Pootna to kill God Krishn during his infant stages. Pootna applies poison on her breast and goes to breastfeed the Infant God. The Demon is killed as the poison flows back to her blood while God suckles milk from her breasts. But even though she tries kill Krishn, she is granted salvation and a place in Vaikunthdham (Residence of God Vishnu) The reason is by letting Krishn drink her milk, she gets the position of his mother and therefore his residence too. For Islam Even in Islam, there are many Fatwas and cases and references from Medieval times which says that if a person suckles milk from a woman, she becomes his/her suckling mother. So it is fair to conclude that religious references of the past suggest that anyone who feeds another person milk becomes his/her mother For Christianity In Western society (US-Europe), lots of people keep dogs and cats as pest. On a discussion with one such friend, he asked me why dont you eat beef? I replied back Why dont you eat Cat/Dog meat? He got disgusted with me and said How can you even say that. Pets are a part of our family and one does not feast upon a family members meat. Then I asked him Is it fair to conclude that any animal which becomes a part of family cannot be used as a source of meat by killing it? And he replied in a Yes. For Atheists/Rationalists/Others Using the above examples, We do drink Milk in childhood and a large portion of it does not come from our birth mother but from Cows. So in a way She becomes your mother. Dont think of her as God or anything like that. But you can and you should certainly see someone who provides milk in younger days as mother. So for most of the people (if not all), their childhood food i.e. Milk comes from Cows, so considering Cows a mothers is a practical thing to do, not some superstitious bullshit and this transcends across religions, faith and geographies. Now I am not in favour of enforcing any Anti Cow killing Law on people but think it using the above logic and make a decision and give your opinion. Afterall each one is entitled to his views and these are mine. One can differ but not deny the logic and practicality of What I said. Comments Welcome! By - https://facebook/suyashbharadwaj
