Killing Patton, by Bill OReilly p. 69 Job of the govt ... particularly Congress: Working closely with Congress, Roosevelt crafted a series of fifteen bills that fixed the banking system and made possible a number of monumental public works projects designed to put Americans on the job. Thus began the long climb back to prosperity. Republicans and Democrats set aside their differences and worked closely to get Roosevelts ideas passed into law. They enacted the legislation so quickly that comedian Will Rogers joked on the radio that Congress didnt vote on the bills, they just wave at the bills as they go by. Im afraid when I read this Rogerss quote I didnt smile, but nodded ... yep, Pelosi would claim she and her group with the If you want to know what is in it, you must pass it were just following precedent and didnt do anything wrong. I however find much wrong in any Congressperson voting at all on a bill, other than a NO BECAUSE I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO READ IT YET, which that representative of the people has not completely read and understood. If the govt is too big to handle such a basic position, then I would say that govt is obviously too big. If you havent read it, and you dont understand it, you are not doing your job and should be fired from it!
