Killing fields & S21, the jail people were held before being sent there. I didnt take many photos of the actual field as it was a bit too harrowing. Crazy that for over ten years after Khmer rouge fell, the west still recognised them as the official rulers of Cambodia. Mainly because the Vietnamese kicked them out & obviously the USA couldnt be seen to associate with someone theyd just been humiliated by. Also, a guy from Newcastle was captured and killed, apparently working for the CIA. Went to Benton road school, West Jesmond primary (though it says West Jameson) then RGS. They didnt want to waste bullets so everyone was killed with blunt instruments or had their throats slit. babies were swung by the feet & bashed against a tree. Almost half the population was killed. Mainly for being intellectual. They killed rock stars & movie stars, lawyers & teachers. Pol Pot himself came from a rich family ( dont the always) & was a teacher. by the end, they would kill you if you wore glasses. Anyway... I suspect most of you knew just a little bit of that at the very least1
