Killing oneself is, anyway, a misnomer. We dont kill ourselves. We are simply defeated by the long hard struggle to stay alive. When somebody dies after a long illness, people are apt to say, with a note of approval, He fought so hard. And they are inclined to think, about a suicide, that no fight was involved, that someone simply gave up. This is quite wrong. -Sally Brampton, Shoot the Damn Dog, A Memoir of Depression Having fought depression a long time ago I can remember so many days that I could not go out in the sun, could not leave the house or even the bedroom without putting up a hell of a fight. People struggling with depression are really struggling, more then anyone knows. Please think of this before calling someone a coward for ending the fight. Until you have to face what they do everyday you have no idea. I am grateful for getting the help and support I needed to get through, but I know that it could have gotten worse and ended differently. I feel like I beat a disease and am grateful that I could when so many others will die from this disease. Robin Williams fought the good fight for 40 years, in the public eye, and sought help countless times. The disease won thats all. Thank you Robin for giving so much joy to so many people for so long and I hope you are finally at peace. And thank you for bringing awareness to this horrible sickness, hopefully people are now more aware that it is real and can happen to anyone. RIP #RobinWilliams
