Kim, a very pleasant man presented at the clinic yesterday - TopicsExpress

Kim, a very pleasant man presented at the clinic yesterday 11.11.2014. He was referred by his general practitioner and a colleague where he received intensive rehabilitation for his right shoulder. He is 55 years old and is usually self-employed as a painter. He injured his shoulder during a game of Badminton and has since been unable to play sports or work. Investigations (Ultrasound scan) revealed a complete supraspinatus rupture. He attempted an intensive course of rehabilitation ( 2 x week plus home exercise) for a period of six months. He was then refferd to our clinic to assess if MWM could be of any benefit. Considering that Kim was missing part of his left arm from birth his injury to the right shoulder can truly be considered a serious handicap. In spite of the bad luck with the right shoulder injury, Kim possesses a very positive and healthy attitude which is an asset with regards to his future prognosis. He was not expecting much but hoping for a breakthrough with time. His clever GP wrote This nice young man has shoulder trouble, he attempted almost everything, please help him A very honest and straight forward statement from a great doctor. My motivation barometer could not be any higher and that is always an important factor in therapy (any kind), I could only hope that MWM could help him but then again, why worry, If MWM is not indicated, thee are other great therapies that can be used to help Kim back to normal. Publishing the day 1 story is not alway wise, I know, but when MWM works it is very unlikely that progress revert. My best guess, hell be out of the clinic within 4-5 sessions with a strengthening exercise and he is very likely to get back to painting in the near future. some discomfort during some activities may remain but he will have a fully functional right arm soon. At this stage, Discussion regarding Badminton may have to wait a bit but the possibility of returning to his sport is not ruled out at this stage. I will update the progress or lack of progress here in any case. Kim concented to share his story here. I sincerely thank him for that.
