Kim was smiling to herself dreamily as she floated through the air on her way to meet her Arabian Prince at the palace. A courier had arrived with a letter begging her to return to him as he was missing her terribly. She opened her eyes when she heard a young girl’s voice calling out her name. ‘Please follow me Princess Salukia my master is waiting impatiently for you.’ Kim raised her hand and the servant helped her rise from the silken cushions she was reclining on, and as they proceeded along a marble corridor another servant girl met them and held her other hand. She could feel the fine gossamer material of her dress brushing against her legs as she walked along elegantly with her head held high. Salukia was very much looking forward to meeting the prince but she would never let on just how much she adored him, this was something she recalled her mother the queen saying to her as she grew older. ‘Never let a man know your true feelings or he will treat you like a servant, let him do the running and pretend you have many princes wanting to take your hand in marriage. This is the way to keep a man guessing and he will never take you for granted.’ Her mother had told her this time and time again, but as these thoughts came to her mind she found she couldn’t picture her mother’s face no matter how hard she tried. Salukia felt a sudden pang of guilt as she realised she hadn’t seen Elliot today, but she frowned to herself thinking it was he who should be feeling guilt for not coming to her, after all he was only a common driver. And she wondered what he was doing which had prevented him coming to seek her out, she brushed the thought away, ‘My prince must come first it is the law of our country and I can’t do anything about it, I must obey his wishes and I know Elliot will understand.’ But she found herself struggling to remember what even he looked like. She stopped suddenly looking alarmed and spoke to the two servant girls. ‘Have either of you seen the companion I arrived with today?’ The girls looked at each other coyly and started to giggle, and gently but firmly pulled her hands. ‘Our master is waiting and we will be punished if he has to wait too long.’ Salukia was annoyed about the fact they’d not answered her question, but she knew all about how the servants were treated under the laws of the country. They’d reached a curtained archway which led into a large room and the two girls lifted the curtains and beckoned for her to enter, when she did so they dropped the curtain and walked away leaving her there alone. **** Joseph had finally returned to the room, he was surprised and alarmed to see his brother standing there with tears running down his cheeks, he could see he was staring at Kim without saying anything to her and guessed something had gone wrong. He hurried over to his side and glanced at Kim wondering why she was just sitting staring at the monitor instead of being concerned about his brother’s sadness. ‘What’s wrong Elliot what’s happened?’ Elliot pointed at Kim, ‘The computer must have put her into a trance and I can’t wake her up.’ Joseph looked to see what she was staring at and immediately noticed the insulation tape from the monitor was lying on the table top. ‘No the wonder you can’t waken her it must have made her remove the tape while our backs were turned.’ ‘I should never have left her.’ Elliot said between his tears. ‘No it’s me who shouldn’t have left her alone, it was just that she insisted I go and I thought you were in the bathroom on the landing.’ ‘Now you can see why she was so insistent on you going, she was being manipulated.’ MORE FROM-WHAT LIES BEHIND THE FIREWALL!
